Melissa Toyos

Dr. Melissa Toyos is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Louisiana State University and a board-certified Ophthalmologist. She is a partner in Toyos Clinic with locations in Memphis, Nashville and New York City. She works as ophthalmic surgeon, oculofacial surgeon and director of research. She was previously a partner at one of the largest practices in the country, Discover Vision Centers in Kansas City. Dr. Toyos specializes in cataract surgery, dry eye, oculoplastic and aesthetics procedures of the face, and hair restoration. She has extensive experience in the use of lasers, injectables and lid surgery to achieve facial rejuvenation. Many public figures have utilized her skills to look their best.

Dr. Toyos is a national researcher and lecturer. She trains other doctors on surgical techniques as well as the use of ocular and cosmetic medications. Her clinical research has been used by the FDA to approve various medications that are now out in the market today. She is a two-time award winner of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Research Grant. She has published and edited over 100 publications and is a frequent lecturer at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) and the Association for Research in Vision (ARVO).

Dr. Toyos devotes time to patient advocacy and community outreach. She is the former President of the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. She has held various leadership positions with the AAO. She was voted one of Kansas City’s Most Influential Women and Women Who Mean Business for her community work and one of Nashville’s Most Beautiful People.
